Aaron Watson - Age 14 Hobbies.
Almost everybody has one. Why, you may ask? Some might say because hobbies are
fun and build good character. Still others say it builds you up emotionally and
physically, training you for the ups and downs of life. I believe in all of
these. As a football player, physical training is prevalent in everything we do. Every practice we are required to run at least 4 laps, do 50 pushups and sit-ups and various other exercises. Drills include hitting and blocking each other, which also builds your physical strength. Football also helps build good
character. As we work as a team, we learn how to win and how to loose like a
good sportsman. Also, on the field respect is required whether it is to the
refs, the coaching staff or your own teammates. You learn to follow orders and
to respect authority.
I remember the time my coach made me run laps because I was late to
practice. I thought it wasn’t fair and decided to walk the laps. My coach did
not appreciate this and decided to make me run more. The same thing happens in
life. If you don’t like a job or chore and you decide to put it off, it just
keeps building up on you.
My hobby also teaches teamwork. Without this important aspect of the
game, you would loose on the field and in life. Teamwork is vital wherever you
go. It is necessary on the job and on the field. My coach once pointed out that
a football team is like the human body. If all the parts don’t work together,
you will succeed at nothing.
