In Art History &
Appreciation, students will recognize God as Creator and Author
of individual, human creativity. Students will learn the
elements and principles of visual organization-design, learn and
use basic art/design vocabulary and experiment with methods and
materials of Art in both two and three dimensional forms.
Students will also
discover the artist's role in history and culture, practice art
criticism in a logical thinking sequence and be able to express
personal views and styles within a Christian Worldview.

drawing, painting, sculpture & collage will be provided
with inspiration from each artist. |

will be discussed and compared with the Biblical Christian
Worldview. |
This is a 2-year
program: Students can join in for any semester, space available.
Year 1: Fall 2008 - Art
from Noah through High Renaissance (1520): Da Vinci, Raphael,
Michelangelo.
Year 1: Spring 2009 -
European Art, Reformation through Revolution (1600 - 1800):
Italy, England, Germany.
Year 2: Fall 2009 -
French Art, Impressionism & Expressionism (1800 - 1900):
Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh.
Year 2: Spring 2010 -
American Art, Revolution to Contemporary (1700 - 2000): Cole,
Hopper, O'Keeffe.
This class represents
1/2 credit per year.
Class Time: 1 1/2 hour. This is a 14 week, two semester class totaling 28
weeks or 7 months.
