Physics with Lab 

 

The Apologia High School Physics program is an honors level lecture/theory and lab/practical application combination, which will introduce students to a wide variety of topics such as: Metric and International Systems of Measure, Dimensional Analysis and Scientific Notation Reviews, Vector and Scalar Quantities, Velocity, Acceleration, Displacement, Two-Dimensional Vector Addition and Graphing, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Mass, Force, Friction, and Inertia, Translational and Rotational Motion and Equilibrium, First Law of Thermodynamics, Kinetic and Potential Energy, Work, Power, and Momentum, Simple Machines, Mechanical Advantage and Efficiency, Waves, Sound, and Light, Geometric Reflection and Refraction, Magnetism and Electricity are time constraint dependent.

 

This is an upper-level Honors course, and as such, it will demand more intensive preparation from students. It will however, be an Algebra II-based regimen as opposed to a calculus-based AP program.

 

Consistent with Honors, a topic related research report will be done in order to fulfill technology requirements.

Class Time: 2 hours - This is a two-semester course totaling 8 months or 64 hours of class time! Semester 1 runs 14 weeks, Semester 2 runs 18 weeks.

The ACEX High School Biology program includes lecture/theory and lab/practical application combination which will introduce students to a wide variety of topics such as:

Laboratory Technique and Safety, The Scientific Method , Intelligence of Design versus Accidentalism, Characteristics of Life, Classification and Nomenclature,

 

Apologia Biology will be the primary text supplemented by additional lectures from a variety of resources. 

Class Time: 2 hours - This is a two-semester course totaling 64 hours of class time! Semester 1 runs 14 weeks, Semester 2 runs 18 weeks.

Laboratory Technique and Safety, Matter, Energy, and Change, Scientific Measurements and Calculations, Basic Atomic Structure, Historical Models and Current Atomic Theory, The Periodic Table , Chemical Periodicity, The Electron, Ions and Ionic Bonding, Molecules and Covalent Bonding, Chemical Formulas, Equations, and Reactions, The Mole, Stoichiometry , States of Matter and Behavior of Gases, Nuclear Chemistry, Acids and Bases, Properties of Solutions.

 

This is an upper-level course and Apologia Chemistry will be the primary source supplemented by lectures from other texts. Consistent with Honors, a topic related research report will be done in order to fulfill technology requirements.
