SAT Math Prep

 

The 2007 SAT dates are January 27, March 10, May 5, June 2. October 6, November 3 & December 1.

The 2008 SAT dates are January 26th, March 1st, May 3rd and June 7th,

This SAT math review course will familiarize students
with the format of the SAT, and teach testing
techniques and strategies. A diagnostic test will
first be given. Then each class will consist of a
timed practice test, followed by a discussion of any
questions the students have about problems they could
not successfully work. There will be a comprehensive
review of basic mathematics, algebra and geometry
concepts each class, with appropriate homework
assigned. Homework questions will also be addressed.

Prerequisites: Algebra 1; Geometry and Algebra 2 are
desired, but not required.

Materials: Spiral notebook, notebook paper and pencils will be provided. A scientific calculator is recommended, but not required.

Textbook: $13 for Barron's SAT Review book ($21 for book + CD-ROM, but not necessary for class)

Homework: 2-3 hours per week

Class Time: 1hr 30mins. Class runs from August 22nd - October 17th, 2008

Biography: 

Marc Sandefur is a homeschool father of seven, ages 2-11.  He loves his Lord, his family and the quadratic formula.  Marc has been teaching math to homeschooled, high school and college students for 16 years.  He currently teaches math on a full-time basis to homeschooled students throughout the Fort Worth and Lewisville areas, combining patient and challenging instruction in a positive, Christian environment.  His
professional background includes aerospace engineering and computer programming.  Marc firmly believes that anyone that does not love God's gift of math has simply not yet seen the light.

PSAT Math Prep

This PSAT math review course will familiarize students
with the format of the PSAT, and teach testing
techniques and strategies. A diagnostic test will
first be given. Then each class will consist of a
timed practice test, followed by a discussion of any
questions the students have about problems they could
not successfully work. There will be a comprehensive
review of basic mathematics, algebra and geometry
concepts each class, with appropriate homework
assigned. Homework questions will also be addressed. 

Math tactics - This section covers the many different math tactics that you should commit to memory before taking the PSAT. These tactics make answering PSAT math questions a breeze by pointing out methods of arriving at the correct answers. Areas include:

Key Facts for Math - This section is invaluable as it covers many of the key principles of mathematics from the most basic concepts up through college level formulas that you will need to study for success on the PSAT.
